My research aims at improving our understanding of the environmental impact from information and communication technologies (ICT) and the reduction of such impact. I am currently leading the technical development of the DIMPACT tool (http://www.dimpact.org) to calculate organisational carbon footprints of digital services used by major digital media companies. A growing area of my research focusses on the complex system of interactions between use of ICT services, use of infrastructure and design of ICT services, and in response I apply multidisciplinary methods from software engineering, human computer interaction and environmental science.
